A'Chruach

In May 2008, Novera received planning consent for its proposed wind farm in an area of commercial forestry at A'Chruach, approximately 5km west north-west of Minard and 10km north north-east of Lochgilphead in Mid Argyll, Scotland.

The 20 turbine proposal is expected to have a generation capacity of approximately 40-46MW and has been under development since 2005. The layout proposed has been the result of the environmental studies undertaken over the last 18 months and consultations with a wide range of people and organisations including the local planning department and residents in the area.

Renewable energy expected to be generated is equivalent to the average annual electricity demand of approximately 25,000 homes*, representing more than 64% of the population of Argyll and Bute.

If you have any questions or would like to register your support for the proposal, please email us at: achruachwindfarm@noveraenergy.com.

* Based on 4,700kWh average annual household electricity consumption, recommended by BWEA and sourced from BERR (previously DTI) Digest of UK Energy Statistics, 2005).
