Novera has withdrawn its planning application to Allerdale Borough Council for the Fleeter Wood Wind Farm proposal (previously known as Townhead Wind Farm), located on farm land in West Cumbria between Dearham, Dovenby and Tallentire, approximately 5km from Maryport and Cockermouth.
The five turbine (10MW) proposal has been under development since 2006. The layout proposed was the result of the environmental studies undertaken over the 18 months prior to the planning application and consultations with a wide range of people and organisations including the local planning department and residents in the area. The planning application for the proposal was submitted to Allerdale Borough Council in December 2007.
Renewable energy to be generated: equivalent to the average annual electricity demand of approximately 5,500 homes*.
Novera decided to withdraw the planning application at the end of January 2009 to allow aviation concerns to be addressed in cooperation with National Air Traffic Services, the British Wind Energy Association and Allerdale Borough Council.
The stand-alone Non-technical Summary document (part of the submitted Environmental Impact Assessment) can downloaded from the links on the right.
