Infinis1, one of the UK's leading renewable power generators, announced today that it has
achieved financial close on a £32 million project financing facility with Lloyds Banking Group
and BNP Paribas Fortis for the construction and operation of the 22MW (megawatt) wind
farm in Glenkerie, Tweedsmuir, Scotland. Infinis is owned by Terra Firma, a leading private
equity firm.
In the year to 31 March 2010 Infinis produced approximately 10% of the UK's renewable
electricity, employing 390 people across 136 operating sites with a total generating capacity
of 408MW. Once operational, the addition of Glenkerie will take Infinis’ operating onshore
wind capacity to 97MW. Infinis currently also has an onshore wind development pipeline of
88MW consented and 126MW in planning. Infinis is the UK’s largest bio-gas generator
thanks to its leading position in the landfill gas sector and is successfully broadening into
onshore wind and hydro generation.
Eric Machiels, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Infinis operating companies, said:
“We are delighted to have closed the Glenkerie wind farm project finance facility and further
extend our growing wind business. Infinis is well positioned to benefit from the rapid growth
of the renewable energy market required to meet the challenging European 2020 targets.
This is a further step in Infinis’ growth as we continue with our aim of becoming Europe’s
leading renewable energy generator.”
