Landfill Gas

Landfill Gas (LFG) provides 29 per cent. of the UK's renewable power. The gas is a mixture of methane and CO2 and is derived from the natural anaerobic breakdown of the biomass material contained in the waste contained within a landfill site. The gas is collected, treated and then used to generate electricity. The electricity is then supplied via the grid to our customers.

Novera is currently number two in the industry with 11 per cent market share. We operate 46 LFG sites across the UK with 85MWe of installed capacity on 22 'closed' (i.e. no further rubbish is added) and 24 'open' sites (those still in operation). The typical life of a site is 20 years after closure. We work closely with the 14 operators and landowners on whose land we operate.
